It's funny how things come about, Mum always loved the poem The Linnet Had A Secret, she was saying it one day and my eldest sister Margaret wrote it down,Margaret took the poem home and put it in her pc room, we wanted this poem and Mum's other favourate poem The Butterfly In Church to be read out at Mum's church service, Margaret hunted high and low for The Linnet Had A Secret and it could not be found anywhere, Mum's service went ahead without it, Mum's final wish was for her ashes to be set free in the Irish Sea, we set her ashes free on 4th July 09 with Revd John Williams and Mum's final wish was granted, Mum must have known we had done all she asked for Margaret was looking for something in her pc room and right there was the much loved poem of Mum's The Linnet Had A Secret,
we knew then that Mum had hidden the poem and she didn't want it found untill her final service where her ashes where committed to the deep was over and she was now letting us know she was happy with what we had done by bringing the poem back into the light where we could all share it and now I will share it with you
The Linnet Had A Secret
The Linnet had a secret
And she hid it straight away
Beneath the yellow bloom bush
One sunny morn in May
The bloom bush was a gossip
And she told it to the breeze
Who told the Linnets secret
To the starlings in the trees
The starlings told a weasel
And the weasel went to see
What was hidden beneath
The bloom bush could be
But she only found an empty nest
Because I'am glad to say
The Linnets little secret
Had that morning flown away,
Thank You Mum for returning your favourate poem to us so we can share it with our families and friends
I love and miss you Mum so very very much xxxxx
